As much as I think we overpaid under the circumstances, I really like the upside here. A 28-year old QB who, in the three years prior to last year (2017-2019), had a cumulative 81-21 TD/INT ratio, and who is under contract for 4 more years at a reasonable number, and with an escape hatch after two years.
The draft capital provided isn't too overwhelming (essentially equivalent to two current 3rd rounders, or a current 3rd rounder and a current 2nd rounder if the contingency is met - this is based upon the often-used concept that a draft pick next year is the equivalent of a draft pick this year, but one round later), particularly since neither of those picks is likely to be at the front end of the round. I wonder if the price would have been lower without the Stafford trade having increased expectations. Also, it makes me wonder what we offered for Stafford, and whether it was more than this. |

Yeah, but he's been praising Wentz more. In the other thread he compared Wentz to both Deshaun Watson and Peyton, lol.

I think this offense is going to open up a lot like Luck's last season. No more JB in the redzone, and I believe we will see a lot or RPO
https://sportdfw.com/2018/05/08/expl...ption-rpo-nfl/ and also some read option as well. This ....if he gets back to the 2019 player could be a very high powered offense More additions needed of course, but he wont have to force it and try to carry the team

Also, I'd think we would have offered at least a 1 for Stafford. Last edited by IndyNorm; 02-18-2021 at 03:46 PM. |

If the condition is not met, then it mean he still sucks, and it only cost a 2nd and a 3rd spread out over 2 years. |

If he sucks, you don't play him for 75% of the games, and you don't lose a first rounder. I can't understand why you guys all think that if he sucks we'd still let him play?

Probably some lingering thoughts on us sticking with AV for so long in '19. Hopefully Reich and Ballard will have enough sense that if Wentz sucks then bench him before he hits the incentive. Not only to save a 1st rounder but to also see what Eason can do.

Eagles must really want Wentz gone to eat a $33.82 million dollar cap hit. I am all for Reich fixing this dude, just hope not a head case. Now can use the 2021 1st #21 on a LT or edge depending on UFA signings. Pretty sure Ballard, Reich and that ex green beret (Brian Decker) spent plenty of time in Wentz's brain insuring he is ready.
