Need cap space to re-sign Leonard, Braden Smith, and Quentin Nelson.

Exactly, they don't. There is a way to restructure contracts, front end load contracts, etc.... I will say it again, damn, they should have gone balls out to sign Lawson.

It’s another missed opportunity. We could have addressed this position years ago.

Why??? Not even spending the money they have right now. Maybe Ballard is planning another big trade and needs the extra cash, we shall see.

Perhaps, but the other thing this does is act as a little bit of an insurance policy in case Wentz implodes next year. If something catastrophic happens and we have to get rid of him before next year, then this $5 million will never be paid.

Ballard is not trading anymore this season. He already made a trade and is down two of his coveted draft picks. He is waiting for more cuts to grab someone on a value deal, cheap-ish 1-2 year deals. I expect we sign a couple vets on 1 year deals.

They've committed to Wentz for at least 2 seasons, $15 million of his 2022 salary just became fully guaranteed. He's not getting cut next year, and Ballard even made mention of a "2 year flier" when the trade discussions were happening.

And I'm sure that the Titans didn't expect to be dumping Isaiah Wilson a year after they took him the first round last year.

Look, you are probably right, we aren't going to be cutting him next year. All I was saying, though, is that if we did (or if he is catastrophically injured), it would cost us $5 million less than it would have without this change. So this can be put in the "hope for the best, prepare for the worst" category.
