Jason LaConfora says the Colts are one of the teams inquiring about Mack.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bears have "an agreement in place" to acquire DE Klalil Mack from the Raiders.

Sep 1 - 8:52 AM

When Matt Nagy gathered his team Friday for an important announcement, one player shouted from the back: “Have we all just been traded for Khalil Mack?”

Prince Amukamara: “It was awesome. I was cracking up.”

Reports are the Bears are giving up at least two 1st rounders. That’s pretty damn steep especially considering you also have to immediately make him one of the highest paid defensive players in the league. I’ve been critical of Ballard’s roster building (believing it to slow and conservative with a franchise QB in place), but at that price I can’t blame him at all for not pulling the trigger. Good to hear he was at least inquiring.

Agreed. Some reports are saying other teams would do a 1st and two 2nds. Only Bears would do two 1sts. That’s still to steep IMO. Only way that makes sense at all is if you believe Mack is the single missing piece to a title. That’s definitely not the case for the Colts. Pretty sure it’s not the case for the Bears either, so seems a stupid move to me. Love the player, but that’s way to much. Bad PR move for the Raiders I think, but if reports are true they got good value at least.

Two first rounders for a team that is supposed to pick in the top half of the draft is pretty steep. If you add that to the reports that Mack is going to get more money than Donald and I would have to say no thanks. Weird, I think it is to much to give for him but still think the Raiders are idiots for trading him.

How much does adding Mack change their draft position? 2 spots?

Trade official, source tells ESPN:

Bears get: Khalil Mack, a 2020 second-round round pick and a conditional 2020 fifth-round pick.

Raiders get: 2019 first-round pick, 2020 first-round pick, 2020 third-round pick, 2019 sixth-round pick.
To give up that much and then pay him more than Luck would've been very stupid. I'm glad Ballard didn't do that. Mack is a great player but we're not that close. We need those picks.

Yep. And next year’s draft is top heavy in pass rushers, 3-techs, and OTs. Colts are probably looking at a good player at one of those spots with their first pick.

3-tech or DE, please oh please. Just a defensive playmaker.
