Colts Lose Out on Rashaan Melvin
THAT WILL HELP !!!!!
If your goal is to be the AFC doormat for the rest of Luck's career Seriously WTF The Colts have not signed many people in free agency so far. Now news has come out that they lost the opportunity to re-sign their best corner. Indianapolis has been patient in free agency. They have been scanning the market and looking for players who fit their system. But the organization just lost out on their best defender from this past season. Rashaan Melvin has opted to not re-sign with the Colts. Instead he signed a one year deal with the Oakland Raiders. This is a big blow to the team’s secondary. Melvin was by far their best cornerback and was the best player in their secondary overall. Makes perfect sense.. to who? Losing faith in Ballard The team just let their best defender walk without even trying to re-sign him. Hopefully that’s the last time that happens. We sign a practice squad DE from Oakland, they get our best DB? We will not sniff the playoffs again even with Luck back for years Last edited by testcase448; 03-20-2018 at 10:25 AM. |

Seriously, TC. The door is THAT WAY ============>
I too wanted a few of the guys whom were signed by other teams. However, we did not win the bidding battle in some cases and in other cases, Ballard was not interested in them. Same story every season. Long way to go until we play any meaningful games. Lots of moves to be made. So far, I like the draft pick trade, I like re-signed AV and I like the Ebron signing. I am neutral on the D-lineman signing. I don't see a ton from him but if the coaches do then great; I did not think much of Woods signing last year and was dead wrong on it because he was excellent. I am negative on cutting Hankins. Everything else? I was not a fan of signing any other of our free agents early. Let them test the waters and see what happens. None were irreplaceable. Moncrief at possibly $11m next season? Pass. The first phase of free agency is to overpay for guys whom can fill a hole or two on your team. Rarely is it for building your team around. We are many holes away. Ballard will find good guys over the next week to 10 days. We will have less holes to fill in the draft than we do today. Keep patient. But, seriously, your post porn over the past hour to say the same thing in every thread got old after the first one. Door is THAT WAY.

Both Holder and Keefer said Melvin was asking the Colts for significantly more money. It's clear the guy wanted to go elsewhere.

Second, remove your lips from Ballard's ass until he proves something grade thus far... Draft pick trade, OK move, may be good, we'll see let Melvin go in exchange bring in a sub-mediocre DE.. stupid Hankins move.. stupid. Makes an OK area thin We're overpaying guys that CAN'T fill a hole, AND creating new holes Explain how losing good, at least average players and bringing in ... well a tight end with bad hands advances our cause. You are correct, we are a long way from playing any meaning full games... several seasons |

I wanted Melvin back, but not at a high price. He played well but for 75% of one season. And he got hurt. That's a warning sign that a guy is trying really, really hard so he can get paid. Keeping him would've been a fine move but I don't think he's a huge loss. He's almost 30 and had less than one good year.

If he wanted to be paid long term like a CB1, then ballard stuck to his plan and didnt overpay. Notice that melvin only ended up with a one-year prove it deal? The other teams were not going to over pay for him and we didnt either. Last edited by rcubed; 03-20-2018 at 03:57 PM. |
