Reid's timeout decisions were insane on their own, especially the 2nd one. The Buccaneers had 2nd and 10 after the first timeout, and 3rd and a short 2 after the 2nd timeout. The first timeout was moderately risky, the 2nd timeout was inexcusable and inexplicable. That's not irrelevant, that's absolutely atrocious decision-making by a head coach. o

I was pulling numbers outta my ass just to make a point. It's probably closer to 50, 40, 10. The NFL itself helped them out a lot, but I didn't figure that in because nobody knows the extent of the help there. I never thought I'd defend Tom Brady...

Same here, as I think that Belichick is considerably more deserving for his teams' successes than 25%. I've pointed out before that when Tom Brady missed an entire season with an injury in 2008, the Patriots went 11-5 with Matt Cassel at quarterback. The only reason why they did not make the playoffs that year was because the AFC was stacked that season (as it was this season.) It was the antithesis of when Peyton Manning missed the entire 2011 season with an injury, and the Colts wound up going 2-14. The 2020 Colts were in the same exact position as were those 2008 Patriots, but were fortunate that a #7 seed was added to the NFL post-season tournament for the first time ever. The title of this article alone exemplifies the 2008 season for Belichick's Brady-less Patriots.
