Stampede Blue article on why our screen plays suck
Located here.
The three factors that contribue to a failed screen play he cites are: 1. Predictable play calling 2. Players out of sync with each other 3. Skilled defenders I don't know that he shows every screen play we have run this year but he shows a fair amount of them. From what I can see, the predicatbility of our play calling is probably our worst issue with our screen plays followed by our players not being in sync with each other (RB taking off too soon, O-Linemen taking off too soon, O-Linemen taking off too late, etc). We have run some good ones but we are not yet a good screen team by any stretch of the imagination. Once our downfield pass game gets cranking (better pass protect, better deep TE / WR options) and if we can maintain a good run game then the screen gets better as there are more threats. Good article to read. Walk Worthy,
