I’ll judge it when we see the results. I think Reich has earned some trust. I wonder if this has to do something with the Chiefs game.

I seriously doubt it. You don't make decisions like that based on one game. Frank Reich calling the plays for offense bears just as much blame for that performance and I think Frank is man enough to realize it. As others have said this probably has more to do with Frank wanting someone specific in that role and Guge knew this was coming.

I assume you asked the question half-jokingly -

but to answer your question.......Yes. He retired 6 years ago at the age of 70. He is about to turn 77 next month.

Holder heard from a source that Guge wasn’t a great teacher of technique. He’s more of a motivator. With the younger OL guys, they want someone to teach them better technique.

Interesting tidbit here - apparently Reich was not able to land his first choice for O-Line coach. He offered the job to Tom Manning (Colts TE Coach this year), but he turned it down and also left the Colts to head back to Iowa State. It sounds like he could be the next head coach there if and when the current head coach leaves for greener pastures.

So 3 coaching jobs are open on the offensive side.
