1) Big WR (check)
2) Connection to Colts coaching staff (check)
3) Mid-tier UFA (check)

FWIW, Holder was on the radio last week and said the team is high on both Cain and Marcus Johnson.

Combine this with Ballard's comments earlier in the offseason and it seems pretty clear that the Colts have no plans to make a large investment in the WR position this offseason.

I think we will use a draft pick, but 3rd round or later. Ballard seems to have a type when it comes to WR's and there will be plenty of that type in the 3rd, 4th, 5th rounds.

I'm guessing this is the approach taken.

In related news, Marquis Brown had Lisfranc surgery and is out until training camp. Could potentially see him slide.

If he's expected back this year, that's unlikely. Brown will still likely be gone in the first two rounds, and it doesn't seem like Ballard has any intention of burning any of those picks on a WR.

Holder reports that the Colts have tendered an offer to Marcus Johnson. He states that Marcus has made good progress in recovery from his injury. Also stated that Reich is a big fan of him.

Agreed. One of the things that Keven Bowen said he learned last week from Ballard at the combine was that he's received 0 phone calls about Brissett. Seems like we're going to have quality backup behind Luck for another year.

Also, re:

I felt like Le’Raven Clark took a big step forward in 2018 and held his own in 4 starts at LT to begin the season (weeks 2 – 5) until Castonzo got healthy. I don’t know that I consider him Castonzo’s “heir apparent” but if he had to play in spot duty here and there at OT, I think we would be fine. Perhaps he can take another step forward in 2019 and be a viable option to replace Castonzo in 2020

I heard Ballard a couple of weeks ago on DD's show say that 2019 would be a "prove it" year for Clark. Ballard is such a straight shooter it will be interesting to see if Le'Raven rises to the occasion.
