Mudd is probably pretty interested in the level of personnel we have now as well.

Yeah, he's 6 years younger and hasn't been out of coaching for 7 years.

Nelson himself said the idea that Guge was not a good technique teacher was false.

One of those greybeards just schooled the hot young coach of the NFL by using stuff no one has seen in a while.

Mudd was a tough player and as a coach, he taught technic. Everybody kept their feet moving, you never saw his linemen getting their legs rolled up. He got the most out of the guys Polian found for him.

Strausser and Howard Mudd are on the job

Colts right guard Mark Glowinski, speaking with reporters, says there's been a major emphasis on fundamentals by the current OL coaches. This was always a driving force behind the coaching change after the season. Sounds like there's already been an impact from the shift.

I remember reading where Nelson thought his technique was slipping near the end of the season. I wondered at the time why. Apparently Reich/Ballard thought it was coaching. Obviously (look at how the line played) Guge was not a bad coach, just that Reich/Ballard seem to know exactly what they want in a coach and Guge didn't emphasize or teach fundamentals the way they wanted. I love that they believe in themselves enough to make a change that they will get reamed for if the offensive line play deteriorates (it won't). Ballard/Reich play to win, they are not afraid of losing. Damn this is so refreshing after the last shit show we lived thru.
