Default Colts Re-Sign Jack Mewhort

1-year, $1.5m deal.

Quote:
Colts are bringing back G Jack Mewhort on a one-year deal with a base value of $1.5m and another $1.5m in incentives, source says. He had interest from other teams but Indy’s confidence in him and his knee despite his landing on IR the last two years was huge.

Good. Allowing us to pick best players rather than have to draft for need.

Walk Worthy,

He probably IS the depth. You can't count on him being the starter.

Not for a max of $3M. Are Mewhort and Slauson our presumed starters at guard?

Of who is currently on the roster? Yes.

Slauson
Mewhort
Haeg
Good
Clark
Vujnovich

Those are the guys on the roster not named Ryan Kelly and Anthony Castonzo.

I have little doubt that there will be competition and I also have little doubt that if all are healthy, Mewhort and Slauson will win the starting spots.

Walk Worthy,

Walk Worthy,
I hope we draft a guard then. Mewhort's knees and Slauson's age and recent play history don't look like the winning upgrades this OL has needed since before Luck was drafted. They'll need to be smart, pick up Reich's offense, and execute on the quick hitters efficiently. Also lots of 2 TE.

I'd hope we draft at least one G and possibly sign another in FA.

Top of the 2nd is probably going to be a solid spot for guard. I don't buy three guards going in the 1st.

That's what I'm hoping as well. But if more guards go round 1, it'll mean other players might fall, so it'll work out one way or another.

I'm crossing fingers for a run on QBs, free safeties, TEs, and centers in the 1st.
