Default Navorro Bowman?

He played 3-4 ILB in the past, I would think he would be an upgrade? He has had some injury issues in the past and at 29 is closer to the end than the beginning of his career. The Colts have the cash, if he is willing to come here and take a short front loaded contract seems like a good move.

A hesitant, NO. Apparently he has become a liability in coverage.

Now, if Ballard (keep Pags totally out of the loop on this) concedes, that yes Bowman is a liability in coverage, but still a substantial upgrade over what we have, then yes, you pull the trigger.

How is he not already in the team facility? "A liability in coverage" is relative, and likely a huge upgrade from what the Colts have now at ILB.

I have not watched many 49ers and little of him lately so honestly, I have no clue on his coverage abilities. I do know we have no LBs with any at all right now, so even if he is poor in coverage, still might be better?

I'd bring him in. He's a winner and a leader and we need players like him. Liability in coverage or not. That's all we have at ILB anyway, but also without any of the positive qualities.

https://www.ninersnation.com/2017/9/...-missed-tackle

A Niners homer evaluation of his week 3 performance. It says he looked like an All-Pro once in the Seahawks game earlier in the season, but other than that has struggled. Sounds like they're just mad that they overpaid for a guy who is coming back from a serious injury. Obviously still has flashes of brilliance, which is more than what is going on here. Maybe being welcomed to a new situation where any ILB play is graded on a curve would be a good spot for him.

Another article from Sept. 5 with direct quotes from him where he's upset that the 49ers kept bringing in new ILB's and he felt disrespected.

I agree Ballard should take a look at him but yesterday JMV was reporting that Drew Rosenhaus is his agent and was shopping him to teams where he could win immediately vs a rebuild like his current situation. Don't know......

Could be posturing to get more money from those with it to offer.

Why on earth would Bowman wanna come here? Unless Jimmy offered quite a bit more money, which wouldn't be wise. Not for a guy with that much mileage.
