Default Marlin Mack

He becomes a free agent after the season, but coming back from an Achilles injury should be a caution flag for any team looking to sign him. Unfortunately for Mack, this will limit his signabilty. Just curious, of what people here think of re-signing him for a year. His incentive would be proving that he can be productive and then maybe get a longer term deal in 2022. How do the fans here feel?

Exactly. Hard to say unless the price is known. Mack knows the system and by all accounts is being a good team guy - coming to meetings and helping JT. There is some value in that. Just not a lot.

I will pass. I think he had one healthy season? Would probably invest a lower round pick in a back next draft.

If he's healthy, I say sign him to a modest 1 year deal.

I'd be cool with a low cost but incentive laden deal. Mack and Taylor would have made an interesting combo this year. I'm really bummed that we never got to see it. Inside/Outside.

Sad to say because I like Mack, but would be a "no" for me at this point. RBs typically suffer the most (along with LBs) from Achilles injuries:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28742993/

Here's the conclusion if you don't want to read the whole thing:
Conclusion: Following Achilles tendon repair, less than 75% of players returned to the NFL. Postoperative career length was 1 season shorter than matched controls. No difference was observed in the number of games per season played compared to matched controls. Postoperative performance scores were significantly worse for RBs and LBs compared to preoperative and LBs had significantly worse postoperative performance when compared to matched controls.
So, basically, Achilles tendon tears typically take a year off a player's postoperative career, and RBs "postoperative performance scores" were significantly worse than other positions.
