Rams now have no first round picks until 2024. Lol.

This is pretty much what I expected. Some team would give more than Ballard was willing to give.

In this case, that’s more than I would have given.

Not if they win a super bowl. Stafford in Mcvays offense will be formidable.

Detroit...... Where players go to watch their career go down the toilet. Good luck Goff.

Wow, Sean McVay is the modern day George Allen. Ballard never would've traded that much, nor should he. This makes the QB situation much more concerning for 2021, however.

I never thought Stafford was coming here anyway, but I'm glad we didn't pay anywhere near that price. I kinda feel bad for Goff.

In draft day trades, if you are at the top of the 2nd round and really like a guy, the asking price is usually the following years No.1 pick, i would argue that if you are in the middle to late 2nd round and really wanted a guy and didn't have a pick in the 1st round of the following years draft you would need to give up a 1st rounder from 2 years ahead.

So another way to look at this in the immediate case the Rams gave up Goff, and a top 2nd rounder and mid 2nd round selection and a 3rd rounder this year.

The Lions are only going to receive a 3rd round pick plus Goff and an awful lot of dead cap space THIS YEAR. They are rewarded in subsequent years though.

I suspect the actual cost to get Stafford alone was not much more than the 2 later year first rounders, which would easily equate to a 1st and 2nd rounder this year, which many people were speculating was exactly what the price would be.

Personally i like 1st round selections in later seasons, but in a win it all now case scenario that the Rams are in, it isn't quite as bad as maybe first thought.

Didn't see that coming, I was wrong, oh well not the first time.

Jared Goff is now set to become the Lions’ new franchise quarterback. Goff’s 2021 salary includes $27.5 million in guaranteed money and a cap hit of almost $35 million.
On the surface I agree with what you said. Here’s my question, what if they take those two number one picks and move up in this year‘s draft to say the number three spot?

Good question. One of the issues with the Ram's #1 picks are that they will be very late 1st round picks since I figure the Rams will be very serious SB contenders now. I personally wouldn't trade a #3 spot for the Rams two #1s because at that point it is a crapshoot, where as a 3 is where you can land a stud player.

My son in law is a Lion's fan, and he hates this trade because of Goff's contract. That's the biggest reason I said the Lions were stupid. The Rams were dumb as fence posts to pay that guy that ridiculous money, and the Lions bailed them out.
