Still early & we have to see if Ballard makes any FA moves but we need a LT & Christian Darrisaw might be a solid pick at #21.

I would rate our "needs" as:

#1 = Left Offensive Tackle
#2 = Cornerback #1
#3 = Wide Receiver #1
#4 = Defensive End
#5 = Tight End

CB1 and WR1 could be filled by re-signing Xavier and T.Y. -- OR -- it is a pretty deep free agency class for those two positions.

Either way, both positions need time to adjust to the NFL and I would suspect we will sign a veteran one way or the other.

DE is also pretty deep in free agency. I would expect us to sign one or two (Autry and one other?)

While there are OTs out there in free agency, I suspect that Ballard is going to draft a rookie with his 1st round pick.

You cannot sign every offensive lineman to a top veteran deal after their rookie contract expires and he has to sign Smith after 2021 and Nelson after 2022. A rookie LT would not need to be re-signed until after 2026 with the 5th year option and would be low money until then.

It also opens up the possibility of drafting a new right guard in 2022 with our 2nd or 3rd round pick when Glowinski's contract expires to try and keep the position group cap hit lower.

So, veteran free agency for WR (1 or 2), CB (1 or 2) and DE (1 or 2).

Draft for left OT, TE, OT depth and whatever after that.

There could be 5-6 tackles picked in the first round this year. It’s a good year to need a tackle.

I don't see that many Too many other players with better value. May have an outside shot at Darrisaw but otherwise I'd wait until the second round or trade back a few spots grab a 3rd if they have a tackle graded high on their board.

Etc...
You don’t see that many, then post a list with 6 tackles in the top 32 players. I also think Radunz will start working his way up. Guy was one of the best at the senior bowl, is very smart, and moves really well. I think he is a LT. Then you got others like the ND kid. Very good tackle class.

There is actually 7 OT's listed - Leatherwood at #30 was accidentally missed

Colts pick at #21.

5 QB's will probably be picked, that moves us up to position 16 for other positions. We know Sewell (OT) and Pitts (TE) and a minimum of 2 wide receivers will be picked before the Colts pick. So at a minimum after these guys are picked, we are at #12. We should have a damn great chance at landing a good OT or DE. Really looking forward to this draft.

I think Puck was saying that there aren't many options value-wise at the spot where the Colts are drafting.

The Colts draft at #21. There are no OT's listed between 17 and 27.

Darrisaw could be there. If Darrisaw is already picked, and the Colts select a OT at #21, the Colts will likely be drafting for need and not BPA. The Colts could potentially trade back a few spots and still pick up one of the next group of OT's in the late 20's - early 30's.

Of course, the draft board order will change 20 times between now and draft day.

I really like Some of the edge guys and CB’s that could be available But the talking heads think Ballard is going all in for FA pass rush this yr.

That’s pretty subjective. Lists will range all over the place with this group. For example after the top two options will start to differ.

I do know it’s a position you shouldn’t get cute with. Just draft the best one you can. Hopefully you get a guy who can fill the position for ten years+.
