yeah shows a lot of good will from the colts and specifically ballard. from what I read mack stuck around for rehab and really helped the other RBs off field, in the film room, etc. I wonder how much he was involved in JTs epiphany that propelled him in the second half of the season. gives mack a chance to prove he is back to form and maybe get another contract somewhere while providing big upside to us if he does.

I like this signing for a number of reasons:

A. As stated, great locker room guy and mentor for JT.

B. Great price.

C. If healthy, I love a 1-2 punch of Taylor and Mack. Ideally, JT gets 20-25 touches a game and Mack gets 10-15 touches with Hines getting the rare carry but used perhaps more in a slot / move role.

D. If this pans out, then the pressure off of Wentz could be tremendous! An excellent ground game that can move the chains can take a ton of pressure off a QB to have to be "the guy" instead of just "a guy." Distribute the ball, take a shot down field but not have to worry about a dink and dunk game because the running game has GOT THIS.

E. The big uglies get to live their dream. "Run the damn ball!"

With a reasonably healthy Mack, the Colts may well possess the best 1,2,3 RB punch in the NFL. IMO, it is imperative to get a solid LT and some OL depth so they can take advantage of these guys. To me, the most important position to fill with a stud is LT. Sure, I want an Edge rusher, sure I want a quality WR, but I really feel that with a solid LT, Wentz can make magic with the WR corps we currently have and the running game will be dominant.

Every play should start with play action. Why? Because fuck them thats why. The Colts have a rookie LT, it allows him to attack and then pass pro..

Make every opponent to defend the run first, what ever the score is at the time.

Ground Chuck offense.

That does not win in today's NFL.

I know. It will win the AFC south. And thats where you start. Build the passing game while you bludgeon the opposition in the first half of the year. Go for on fourth and short. Put the pressure on every team to play run first, allowing the QB to find the open receiver while the D crowds the line. The best part of the offense is the offensive line. Swing a big hammer and then go play action.

Still gotta handle that LT position. Remember the effect it had on the line when Castonzo was out. That’s a big hole. It’s looking like that first round pick will have to be LT.

There are a few veteran LTs available. I like Villaneava from Pittsburgh. He is a tough guy and a team guy.
