Yeah, no doubt. California's great sans the politicians, taxes, and (at least in some locations) traffic.

Back in the early 2000s I was a field service engineer and landed what was supposed to be a long term assignment in between LA and Bakersfield off the Grapevine. Left Indy where it was 25 and snowing and landed in LAX where it was 80 and sunny, rented a Mustang convertible for an extra $5/day, and headed up to where I was staying in Valencia with the top down. That was a great day!!
