Default Free Agent Pass Rushers

We've talked about Dee Ford. I posted a Brandon Graham thread but none of you assholes apparently wanted to talk about him. Maybe a general thread about the upcoming FAs is the way to go.

I've read a couple Chiefs fans talking about Justin Houston. Some think he'll be released.

Here are his contract details (sherck stop drooling): https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/kansas-c...-houston-7789/

He's scheduled to make over $15 million in 2019, and $17 million in 2020.

He is 29 years old.

Until this upcoming offseason, he would've been a huge boat anchor of dead cap to cut. But if he's cut in the 2019 offseason, he'll only count $7 million against it.

So, they might keep him another year, but they could cut him and save $8 million and change.

It is hard to imagine they will re-sign Ford AND keep Houston at his cap number.

Which of the two would you prefer to sign?

Personally I would rather have Ford …

Either.

Or both!

Ford even if only because he is a little more than two years younger.

While I've talked up Bell, this (the defensive line) is where I hope there is enough talent available in free agency that we can spend a shitload of Irsay's money on. If a legitimate pass rusher is available pay him, even overpay but get him.

it would be unconventional for us to look for pass rush from the NTs, even though we have been toying off and on with the double A gap business. Might be something worth considering as a DT would generally be less expensive and perhaps even more common than a DE.

Houston is far better than Ford. He is older, however.

Ford for me, younger and more upside.

Guys we should look at are:

Bradon Graham: very consistent in his pressure rate the last couple of years. He does not have the sack numbers but he still gets there. Due to his lower sacks he might be more reasonable to sign. Familiarity with Reich.

Frank Clark: has just as good of numbers as Demarcus Lawrence without the hype machine behind him. Somebody posted that he was a POS with character issues.

Dee Ford: finally living up to his potential as a first rounder. Has been hurt a lot and the fact he is in a contract year worries me a bit. Good upside and young.

Trey Flowers: NE's only pass rushing weapon. Has been getting better and is really the only decent guy on their line. Well coached and a long, good athlete. Moved all over the line. Looks to be getting better. Chandler Jones left and absolutely blew up.

Lawrence will probably be franchised or signed

Ford will probably get tagged by KC.

I would love to get Demarcus Lawrence but I don't think Dallas lets him walk.

I'd want Ford of those two.

My order of preference for upcoming free agent DEs:
1) DeMarcus Lawrence
2) Dee Ford
3) Frank Clark
4) Jadeveon Clowney

I don't think Graham or Flowers would be a worthwhile sign. If Justin Houston became available, he'd go to the 3 spot on my list.
