Confirmed groin injury......not sure whether it will be ok to go to Oakland so they are working out kickers this week in case he can't kick next week.

Sanchez held both place kicking and punting duties while at Hawaii. I have little doubt that he could handle both duties for a game and let Vinny rest for thee full weeks before our first game afte the bye week.
I guess I don't care if we sign a one week wonder but I would say let Rigberto give it a whirl. Walk Worthy,

I agree we could let Sanchez do both and train somebody else for holding (hopefully the special teams coach has prepared for this contingency by having someone else practicing holds this whole time - Brissett would be the obvious choice)
But it's still risky, because of Sanchez gets hurt, we would have no other kickers! |

I am saying that we sign him will no intention of using him except in emergency situation that Sanchez gets hurt. Let the kid try it. Heck, he might be the PK of the future once Vinny finally decides to retire. Walk Worthy,

Sounds dumb but here's the thing. They need to bring in someone to help because you will wear out Sanchez's leg if he doing all the kicking in practice and games for how many weeks. They need to sign another kicker just so they can practice. Jugs machines only do so much. Bring back the kid who kick in the preseason. At least on the practice squad. BTW, can anyone name the last guy who did both punting and FG/ XP in the NFL? |

Pre-season kicker was Michael Badgley who is kicking for Chargers over last 2 games. 7 for 7 on XP and 3 for 3 on FG. Signed when Sturgis got hurt

Rather than start a new thread I will put this here since it includes a Vinny update:
Ballard was just on the DD show (renamed the Tyler Trent show today...if you are not aware he's the Purdue kid who was named captain of the Purdue football team in advance of the upset over Ohio State. He's fighting osteosarcoma and is an aspiring sports broadcaster who is partnering with DD today on his show). This was a very brief / feel good interview and the primary purpose is to shed light on the fundraising efforts of Purdue/ Riley hospital for peds cancer research so I only have a couple of hard colts news to share 1. RE AV, he will be playing on Sunday. Ballard mentioned they brought some guys in to try out this week and Vinny was "prancing around, pissed off". He doesn't want anyone else kicking for the Colts. Alrighty then. 2. Took accountability, again, for the fuck up on the line last year. RE: Braden Smith looking good as a tackle....admitted that he was not smart enough to predict that. He said that only Marco Brown (scout on his team) projected that Smith could be an add for that position but the rest of his team projected him as only a Guard. Says he got lucky on this one. That's it, the rest was more about life, experiences, and overcoming hardships. If you aren't familiar with Tyler's story it's a good one. This kid isn't letting his disease keep him from living his best life and pursuing his dream. |
