Agreed.

But, he is a very successful kicker and I would expect him to be able to probably stay above 100 points. That may end up having him need a extra season or two to break the point total but I could see him doing so in his early 40s with a couple of years to add to the record.

Or, he could get hit by a bus tomorrow....

Walk Worthy,

Walk Worthy,
I was hoping for a meteor strike in Minneapolis in a bit over a week, but a bus would suffice.

It will have been 11 seasons since Morton Andersen retired (2007) after breaking the previous record in 2006 from Gary Anderson (retired in 2004) who took it from George fricking Blanda in 2001. The scoring record was broken twice from 2001 - 2006 and then not again until now. It will be a big deal next year when AV does it and he better have the shoe on when he does so.

Also, behind AV, there is:
Phil Dawson, 1,817 points, 670 points behind, age 42 (not happening)
Sebastian Janikowski, 1,799 points, 688 points behind, age 39
Matt Bryant, 1,624 points, 863 points behind, age 42 (not happening)
Stephen Gostkowski, 1,613 points, 874 points behind, age 33

AV has averaged scoring 126 points per season over his career
SJ has averaged scoring 106 points per season over his career
SG has averaged scoring 134 points per season over his career

If AV kicks in 2018, scores 126 and finishes with 2,613 points:

SJ has to kick until the 2024 season (age 47) at his career average to break the record
SG has to kick until the 2024 season (age 40) at his career average to break the record

So, AV will own the record for probably at least 5-6 seasons before it is broken if either of those gentlemen play that long.

The money does not matter; top paid kicker in the NFL (Gostowski) makes an average of $4.3m per year. Chump change....

So, I think he is a priority re-sign for no other reason than the fan excitement in seeing one of our own earn that kind of NFL record. Even with a new coach, schemes and the return of Luck, you cannot buy fan excitement like seeing one of your guys earn NFL career records.

Walk Worthy,

I don't really care about the NFL scoring record.

No one cares much about kicking records. I couldn't have told you who had the record now.

I would guess Kickers and their Moms care.

No one cares about career NFL records?

Have you been to the NFL Hall of Fame? Career records are the bomb diggidy because it is one thing that every player who enters the NFL can aspire for.

I don't get your mindset on this. No one cares about an accomplishment that has taken AV 20+ years to achieve?

Unreal.

Non, I said no one cares about kicking records.

How many kickers are in the HOF?

Did you know Justin Tucker is the all time leader in FG percentage?

Shane Lechler is the all time leader in punting average?

And of course who can forget than Vanderjerk at one time was the all time leader in FG percentage?

Obviously that mean nothing to the Colts at the time because they cut him and signed AV.

AV will be in the HOF whether he breaks the scoring record or not.

Kicking records are an afterthought, an interesting tidbit brought, you say, "Wow, who knew?" and then you quickly forget

Hmmm...peetz and eberflauss has been widely reported. I could see Taub for special teams but Spagnolo under eberflauss? Seems like a big step down for him but what do I know.

USA Today gives Colts an "a" for mcdaniels hire.

Does anyone else find Coltswire at USA Today a little lacking in depth of analysis?
