NFL Free Cap Space
Hey Freaks,
I don't normally troll through the other team's cap situations but i decided that since the last phase of the off-season talent acquisition phase is upon us (Cap Cut Free Agent Phase), that I would give an update on who had free cap space and who was in trouble. These numbers below will not match anyone else's numbers because I factor in a few things that most cap guys don't at this time of the season: 1. Draft class projected cost 2. Players #52/53 on roster (only need to count 51 players during the off-season) 3. Practice Squad cost 4. $3m in "churn" space for the season that allows you to sign minimum pay guys from your practice squad to your active roster during the seasont ot replace players going onto IR. So, the number below has all those factored in so it is a dollar amount that could be spent on NEW contracts to acquire new players (or used to re-sign / extend current players, etc). 01. $46.5m = CLE 02. $45.3m = IND 03. $27.5m = TEN 04. $22.6m = SF 05. $22.3m = HOU 06. $17.2m = CHI 07. $10.4m = NYJ 08. $08.1m = MIN 09. $06.7m = ARI 10. $05.7m = CIN 11. $05.6m = WAS 12. $04.9m = JAX 13. $04.8m = BUF 14. $02.1m = LAC 15. $00.3m = KC 16. $00.2m = NE Half the league can sign all the players currently on their roster and pay for all of the in-season costs that are upcoming. However, that also means that HALF of the league will be cutting veterans or restructuring veterans on their roster in order to meet their cap obligations once the 2018 season starts (i.e. cut down to 53 players and sign practice squad). And the Colts are one of the two teams with a lot of cap space to use on an unexpected cap cut whom can help us out. The roster is not set yet, Colts fans. Sure, it is probably 90% set but there may still be 3 or 4 new faces on our 53 man roster whom can fill those holes that still remain (3-tech DT, LB, CB2). Walk Worthy,

I could see a LB or maybe DT if the right guy comes available, but I think Desir is your CB2 in 2018.

Of course, perhaps that is just because Desir had a higher floor being a veteran. Our defense is going to be no more than league average at best this season. Hopefully, a top 5 offense will be able to pull them along. Walk Worthy,

I actually think Moore might be better as a zone CB than he was playing man.

Wilson and Hairston are likely #1 and #2 at CB.

One of Dam's favorites will be available next yr. Broncos not picking up 5th yr option on Shane Ray
Not sure if he fits what were are going to be doing, but maybe Ballard can make a trade and get him now and work out a contract http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...ne-rays-option
