Default Colts Draft Trade Rumors

From some website named isportstimes.com.

First part of the article talks about how SF wants to trade down from #2 overall and how CLE wants to trade up from #12 overall. They have the draft picks over the next 2 years to do it.

Quote:
Meanwhile, Indianapolis is also rumored to be willing to go down the draft board and re-stock on young players. This year's draft is deep in talent and having extra picks is definitely an advantage for rebuilding teams like the Colts.

The Colts are rumored to be in talks of a potential deal with their AFC rivals, Miami Dolphins, who owns the 22nd overall pick in the draft. The team is said to be offering the 15th overall selection in exchange for multiple picks with also the intention of getting as many young players as possible in this year's draft.
MIA is an interesting trade partner only because they have very few mid-round picks to give up in order to move up. They have 1 2nd rounder, 1 3rd rounder, ZERO 4th round picks but then 3 5th round picks and 2 7th round picks.

Pretty much reality is that they have to involve their 2nd round pick this year as part of the trade (or else a future high round pick or a player) in order to move up because the combined value of ALL the rest of their 2017 draft picks 3rd round and below (177 points) is FAR less than is needed to make the move from 1-22 to 1-15 (270 points).

The one trade scenario that I can come up with for 2017 draft picks only is:

MIA gives us: 1,269.4 points
1-22 (#22 overall; 780 points)
2-22 (#54 overall; 360 points)
3-33 (#97 overall; 112 points)
5-40 (#184 overall; 17.4 points)

IND gives them: 1,267.8 points
1-15 (#15 overall; 1,050 points)
3-16 (#80 overall; 190 points)
5-14 (#158 overall; 27.8 points)

So, we slide back in the 1st round (7 spots), 3rd round (17 spots) and 5th round (26 spots) while gaining an additional 2nd round pick (#54 overall).

Nothing else really works without them giving us future year picks or a player.

Having three picks in the top #54 (#22, #46, #54) would allow us to find someone at all three critical positions of need on the defense (CB, OLB, ILB) with kids talented enough to start from day one.

Would you do it if it meant losing out on Foster, Riddick, Garcon or White?

Cheers,

Sure, I'll play along (big IF that these guys would still be available though, gave my 1st and 2nd choices)

#22 - Charles Harris/Lamp/Jarrad Davis
#46 - Tim Williams/TJ Watt
#54 - Awuzie/Mixon

Heard a rumor Colts are high on Jarrad Davis as an ILB, and have him as a top 20 prospect.

Also saw this post on reddit from someone who claims to have an insider connection. Assuming it's true, one thing that seems to be implicated as that they are considering using a mid-round pick on RB, with Samaje Perine and Brian Hill on their radar. Here's the full post:

"
Most of my information on players, prospects, general insider stuff comes from my friend who works pretty close to the Colts organization. He relays me information, most of it pretty stagnant that I sort of just write off. He's how I got my info on Sheard when he signed before anyone put it out there and the info on Poe (though he didn't sign, which I expected, truthfully).

That being said, just now I got a text from him describing the Colts' draft board, so I figured I could share of that stuff here with you and maybe answer any questions. (Don't worry, I'll add Unreliable Source for those that don't believe me, which is fine)

This one is kind of obvious, but this whole operation is among really three core people: Ballard, Pagano, and Irsay. Not so much Irsay as he's really there to make sure the prospect can directly help the team. Most prospects that they look at generally have to be approved by Pagano to see if they fit or will fit in his mold of the team. It's sort of weird.

Their draft board isn't really a board at all. Apparently it's a web of names connected to each other, like they are prepared for anything that could happen at the draft. There are a lot of names, but a few come up often: Samaje Perine and Brian Hill.

Ballard has his own separate board for the first round, and it's kept pretty secret, and I didn't get any names from my guy on who is on that list, but what I can tell you is that it is someone not a lot of people are expecting to be taken that high.

Colts are actually hard at work trying to find a trade partner. Here's the kicker though: it doesn't necessarily mean trading down. He did mention two teams: Giants and Bengals.

If I get anymore information, I will relay that to you guys ASAP.

FYI that 99.9% of what you read this week is total bullshit.

I heard Reddick interviewed on Jim Rome show the other day...Friday I think. He reminds me of Mathis. Down to earth, hard working kid that's grateful for the opportunity and wants to dominate the opposition.

Per Matt Miller:

Quote:
Miami Dolphins: The hype for Forrest Lamp building on Twitter is legit, said one scouting source. The team would also like to add talent at defensive end and tight end early in the draft.
They could be targeting Lamp or Howard at 15.
