Dare they go into the 2021 with Jacob Eason as projected starter? Or perhaps Ryan Fitzpatrick.
I agree with you. Trading for Wentz is a terrible idea. But if I had to choose, Brisett is a professional, and wont quit.

He gets cut, has to start from scratch, prove to the rest of the team he is a team guy. This isnt baseball, where you can have a guy play for his stats.

I’ll take Brissett over Wentz, the team knows he will work ass off for the team. He wont blame others or pout. Wentz played his way off the field, and got pissed when he didnt get to play in a lost game at the end of season really bothers me. He played his way off the field, the coaches put the next guy up. Isnt that what they say? Next man up.

The Colts trade for this guy, he will feel entitled again, with no pressure to put in extra effort.

Trade for him, NO. Pick him up on waivers with a show me contract, sure.
We’ve seen 30 games with Brisset now. How many more do you need to see? I would rather go Eason or a rookie.

Yes I agree. But not Wentz. Hes terrible throwing down field. Hes gotten worse as he has gotten older. Giving up draft picks and taking that contract is just ****ing dumb

How much do you think it will cost for a starting vet QB in the NFL?
Wentz's contact would be about the same as what we paid Rivers.

Quote:
Under Wentz’s current contract, the Colts would be on the hook for guaranteed salary-cap charges of $25.4 million in 2021 and $22 million in 2022.

For the trading team (Colts?), they would be on the hook for a 4 year $98 million contract. Still a lot, right? Well, actually not quite. The trading team would really have a 2-year ~$47 million contract, as 2023 and 2024 aren’t guaranteed.

Again, the trading team is getting an average of $23.5M per year for the next two years which is tied with Alex Smith for 17th in the league. No brainer for teams.

Paying that kind of money for someone who plays well, is one thing. Giving that kind of money to Wentz is just dumb. He played worse than the rookie Qb Jalen Hurts. Paying Wents is throwing money and years in the dumper

Ballard won't overpay. He will not get into a bidding war. . Ballard has also shown he has patience. He isn't in half the hurry that I am. If Chicago wants him my guess is they will outbid us. If that happens, good.

People thought Q shouldn't be drafted at 6

People didn't think we should have taken the Maniac

People thought Smith was a reach

People didn't think we should trade the 13th for Buckner

People didn't think we should have signed Rivers

People didn't think we needed to draft a RB and they got JT

The list goes on and on, But if anyone is still doubting Ballard it's crazy. The guys hit rate is ridiculous.

Relax and let them do their thing. They know way more than we do.

In Brissett’s defense, when he had TY we were off to a great start and then Big Q smashed Jacoby’s foot and TY got hurt. This is a different offense now, Taylor, Pittman, still a solid offensive line. It’s not who I want back there but I believe we can win with him if it comes to that

If our options are

Go with brissett and keep draft picks to bolster the team or

Give up picks for Wentz or Darnold I’d rather have the picks

I can't believe we are at a place where people think Brissett should be in the mix for starter. It would be a throw away season again.
