Default Colts Stink

I really can't disagree as much as I would like to. Doyle is a fucking retard, but he is pretty much on the mark on this one.

Still an over-reaction from a pre-season game, particularly as we all know the offense has been particularly vanilla.

Even if the offense is vanilla, shouldn't we be able to run the fucking ball at least a little bit? Plus, our defense looks like crap too. Just tired of pissing away all of Luck's years.

They don't have their left tackle. They don't have a right tackle. One rookie guard on the left side (physically great, still a rookie) and juggling the right guard around to fix the RT.

AC comes back, the left side is fixed. Put Slauson back at RG, and make a decision at RT (Haig or the rookie) and put a TE over there for help. As long as AC is missing, it's going to be a mess.

Howard and Clark have been major dissapointments this off season.

What else are they going to say?

This is a LOCK of the year taking Bengals + 3. They are 10x better on both lines and their def line is going to destroy us.

If you want to pay for your season tickets bet the lock. You'll at least feel a little better after the game.

I doubt they'll be very good... perhaps 6 or 7 wins... but it's pre-season. Pre-season stinks.

As for RT, maybe Webb can be the guy. I just watched this clip of every Luck passing play (and he scrambled on 3-4 of these) vs 49ers. Howard is in on the first 2 snaps, and looks awful. Got beat bad on the 2nd snap. Just wow.

After that it was Webb, and he never got beat, stayed active through the play, good hand fighting. He had one sorta missed block, he dove at the defenders knees and sorta missed, but since Luck got rid of the ball real quick, that defender never had a chance to take advantage.
Granted, I'd want to see his run blocking before annointing him an acceptable starter at RT, but the pass blocking looks alright.

edit: also worth pointing out that Smith was in at RG for all those snaps. He was decent. Struggled a couple times, but had more plays where he held his block.

I’m not saying they’ll be anything special, but you can’t read too much into preseason without game plans, all starters, a QB still getting re-acclimated, and a particularly vanilla offense.

This season is about progression anyway. Do they look better in Nov/Dec than they do in Sept?

Was interesting watching Nelson as well. Seemed like there were several plays where he kept a close eye on Hart and whether he needed help. If AC allows Nelson to focus on the interior, will be better gauge for him.
