Mudd was a tough player and as a coach, he taught technic. Everybody kept their feet moving, you never saw his linemen getting their legs rolled up. He got the most out of the guys Polian found for him.

I remember reading where Nelson thought his technique was slipping near the end of the season. I wondered at the time why. Apparently Reich/Ballard thought it was coaching. Obviously (look at how the line played) Guge was not a bad coach, just that Reich/Ballard seem to know exactly what they want in a coach and Guge didn't emphasize or teach fundamentals the way they wanted. I love that they believe in themselves enough to make a change that they will get reamed for if the offensive line play deteriorates (it won't). Ballard/Reich play to win, they are not afraid of losing. Damn this is so refreshing after the last shit show we lived thru.
