Shit like this is why the NFL put Bill Polian in charge of the Colts back in the day. He was no nonsense. This is a joke.

Gotta say...did anyone see this coming?

Maybe he can get that joke of an OL into shape, but I don't expect miracles.

Lots of interesting questions here:

Did they ask fox or bradley and they said no thanks?
Did they consider ventrone?
Is this a white flag moment for the season?
Was ballard in on this decision or strictly irsay?
If just irsay, does that spell the end of the ballard era?

Past players like: Chuck Noll, Vince Lombardi, Tony Dungy, Pete Carroll,
Dan Revees, ……..

I don't think they'd do that to Jeff Saturday. It would be like saying "Hey we want to just go ahead and tank, and we think you are a good choice to be a shitty coach so we can do that. Sure it will make you look bad and ruin your rep after your hall of fame worthy career, but hey, come on man, take one for the team"

I think right now, there is nothing an interim coach can do for the Xs and Os. We need someone who can keep this team together emotionally. I think Saturday is as good a choice to do that as anyone.

I just wonder who is running the offense now? After firing the OC and then firing the HC who was acting as an OC, who's left?

The NFL had nothing to do with Polian getting hired.

1. Saturday is a consultant for the team. The players know him.
2. He is articulate, and he will get his message across. Ask Peyton.
3. He has been a leader where ever he was involved in football.

Its a good choice. He can coach out the rest of the year, while the front office sorts out plans for next year. Hes not going to demand a long term contract. Its a stop gap with a guy who knows the players

Cant it both?

Like you said, he cant fix the Xs and Os, but just usher the team to the end of the season. But that doesnt really have to include wins. I would assume everyone in their right mind knows this is a lost year.

That might have worked long ago, but this is the present day NFL. Three of the guys you listed are dead. That's how long ago it worked. The Colts might get a bounce for a bit, but it won't last.

Rest of the season, fine. It's lost anyway and we need to lose out. I expect real, modern NFL changes in the off season. The organization won't survive unless it's professional. We're a circus right now. Embarrassing

Saturday knows how to win. He is an effective communicator. He has always shown leadership skills since HS. He wasnt afraid to chew out Manning, on TV. He’s really smart. He Wont half ass it.

I love it
