Anthony Richardson will rehab shoulder before Colts make decision on surgery
Joel A. Erickson Indianapolis Star INDIANAPOLIS — Anthony Richardson must begin the process of rehabilitating his shoulder before the Colts know what the next step will be for the rookie quarterback. Richardson was placed on injured reserve this week after spraining the AC joint in his right shoulder against the Titans on Sunday. The rookie quarterback may still need surgery. But the Colts have not made that decision yet, and it sounds like the decision won’t come until Richardson has been able to rehabilitate the shoulder. “Obviously, we want to do the best thing for him," Steichen said. "We’re still relying on the doctors, and we’ll make that decision in a little bit.” A player on injured reserve can return after four weeks, but he does not have to return after that period of time. ‘Enjoy every second of it’:Colts QB Gardner Minshew is starting again where it began Tight end Jelani Woods has been on injured reserve for the first five games, and rookie running back Evan Hull has been there since the season opener. The Colts still expect to get both players back this season, according to Steichen, and will activate them off injured reserve once they’re ready. The Colts haven’t ruled out the possibility that Richardson will miss the rest of the season. The doctors have to see how the rookie’s shoulder responds before making any of those decisions. |

Yeah, I’d say it’s a coin flip whether he plays again this season.

I am about ready to take the under of him playing again this season, that sucks. Still, rather make sue he is whole before he returns to the field.

Rap now reporting that AR is strongly considering season ending surgery.
I’d say he’s done for the year. And maybe that’s for the best. No reason to rush him back if he’s not completely ready to play. Let him heal and learn for a year and come back with a vengeance next season. |

Just read the article- this part is at least a big positive:
Rapoport also said in the report that the MRI results showed that there was no tear in his labrum and that the ligaments “looked better than expected.” Even so, surgery is being heavily considered. |

Expected and the correct decision. AR is still early in his learning phase and can use the time effectively. Long term we have our QB. Get that shoulder as stable as possible, both he and Steichen are smart men they will work together and get this figured out (keeping him healthy). Lets work on getting AR some more firepower.

Let AR and Steichen learn for a year and be ready next year. Plus, we’ll have Ashton Dulin back next season. SUPER BOWL!!!! |
