Would you give up 3 first round picks for Watson?
I definitely would, in a heartbeat. He would make us a SB contender for the next 10-12 years. I doubt the Texans would trade him to us, but 3 first round picks would be too hard for them to say hell no. For the Colts, their 1st round picks are going to be lower tier, but the Texans are in Cap Hell.

It would be a tough call. With 40% of the roster as free agents, the cap will disappear quickly with his contract, but it would make us legit contenders for quite a while if Ballard could work some magic.

Here's how I look at it. Watson would be our 1st round pick this year, the next 2 years will probably be pretty damn low. So we have our franchise QB for a decade and the next 2 picks will be hit or miss based on our draft standing. To me this is a no brainer. Look at the teams left in the playoffs, the best QB's in the league.

I still think they’ll work it out. I mean, not even the Texans are that dumb......right?

Not a chance in hell. Here's why: either the Texans aren't trading Watson, in which case it's irrelevant, or Watson dictates where he goes because he has a no-trade clause, so he can veto any trade. Knowing that, the Texans only have the leverage to negotiate for value that Watson allows them. Watson could literally say to Texans ownership, "I will only take a trade to the Colts," and their options would be trade him here for what they could get from Ballard, or let him retire and get nothing. Knowing that the Texans have no negotiating position, I wouldn't offer more than a 2 for him. After all, Watson doesn't want his new team crippled for acquiring him, right? If Watson truly is at the point where he won't go back to the Texans, he won't care what they get for him, either. I say let him force them to give him away to the Colts if he wants to come to Indy.

You realize Watson could force the Texans to trade him to the Colts for a 7th round pick if he wanted to, right?

You realize they would let him retire first right?
