I knew that the inference was that we took Allen because of his ability to run the show. However, I did not know about the audio- the actual AUDIO file of Bullshit Ballard at some point post draft talking about how Allen was going to be the play caller because he had demonstrated through his FOUR fucking years doing it for the big time program that is Georgia that he was going to slide right into that role. I had not heard this until he played it.

Okay, so Allen didn't get on the field, had an injury, we all think he might not have even been healthy enough to get snaps Sunday. So okay, maybe this isn't as bad as it appears on the surface, it's okay, calm down, calm down, we aren't on the inside, surely there is more to this than he just sucks.

Enter fucking James Bettcher, Indianapolis Colts LB Coach. Yesterday Bettcher took to the mic. When questioned about why Allen saw no PT, he made it clear, he is healthy, he takes a lot of snaps in practice. Yep, he's sitting there on the sideline, why, why do you ask- well according to Bettcher, his fucking direct position coach, in an audio session played on the radio- Allen is not capable of being the defensive signal caller. When he is ready to play, he will get grass time and is expected to play well. The dude fully pulled Bullshit Ballard's pants down in front of everyone, pointed at the unit, and laughed alongside the assembled masses.

This is who is running this shit, this is the incompetence of the fucking GM! JTT, AD Mitchell, JuJu Brents... I believe it's 3 strikes that make an out, how many more fucking whiffs is this idiot allowed!

Insane how bad he is at this shit!
If Allen ran the defense all four years at Georgia, then he’s capable of doing it.

I’m not sure why he’s not capable of it now but that points more towards a coaching or system issue than a Ballard issue.

Because if he can do it at Georgia, it stands to reason that he should be able to do it in Indy.

How could you be stunned? You predicted a 7 win season.

Uhhhhhhh if you watched these LBs for a camp and felt he couldn't perform at least as BAD as the rest of them did Sunday, man fuckkkkkkkk you, get the fuck out of my favorite teams clothing!

Oh and as far as Lou's D's being so complex- at some point it's almost impossible for it not to have reached a point where Bynum on a random Tuesday afternoon practice a couple of weeks ago says "hey coach, I can't get these calls to the guys, we're out of place, we can't do this"... I mean given the debacle that we saw Sunday, that can't be the first time they struggled right? Can't be! So what the fuck, did they just keep watching the same trainwreck happen in camp and just shrug their shoulders and say "ehhhh fuck it, we'll figure it out when the real bullets start flying".

Just soooooooo many things point to this team just being so poorly coached at seemingly every fucking level.
To some extent, what we’re seeing is the inadequacy of training camp being manifested. You have what, about a dozen practice sessions, followed by 3 make believe games in which no starters play and nobody on the coaching staff devises game plans?

We complain, legitimately enough, that Safeties are ill suited to serve as play callers, and it’s tempting to say that we should have picked up on it during the course of the summer. But, where was the opportunity? You can’t expect a second or third teamer to be familiar enough with Anarumo’s system to call defensive plays, so you don’t even try in camp.

That means that the first game of the season becomes a de facto full dress rehearsal, the first chance to see that the second act needs work.

Not buying into the lack of playing time scenario. Most teams sit their starters most of preseason and manage to play well. Lamar didn't play at all and only 5 starters got significant playing time on the Ravens pre season (according to google) and they kicked our ass. Lamar hasn't taken a preseason snap since 2021 and they average 2 starters playing a game in preseason.

That’s the Ravens and Lamar rarely practices throughout the season so I’d say they’re on a totally different platform than the non playoff appearing Colts for nearly a decade

The team we saw Sunday, that shit pile isn't winning more than 4 games. If this team comes out and gets crushed by KC on a national stage, they are going to fold and it's bottoms up from there.

We agree fully that being able to do it for 4 years at that school with the excellent D's they put on the field, hell yeah he should be capable of doing it for the Colts. Yes, quite likely pointing to a coaching issue, which inherently is a Ballard issue. I liked SS to start, but over time the evidence has mounted to the point that I think he is a very poor HC and sleepy Lou sure appears to be another point of evidence backing my perspective.

Couldn't agree more. I just don't believe our issue is that we don't play our starters in pre season. The issue is our starters, coaching and front office all suck at this point in time.

I'm more inclined to think it's his physical play. I didn't like his tape, personally. I felt Boettcher's was better.

I've been wrong before and I'm sure I'll be wrong again, but I'm not surprised if he's just physically not ready for it yet and the team can't say that out loud because the optics.
