I didn’t see it as a lateral more like he just lost it as he got up, which might tempt me to call it incomplete

I agree, the refs should have reviewed it, and that was lousy on their part ...... although I am pretty sure that the result would have been the same, because of what I stated in my previous post.

That wasn’t a fumble. The colts player lost control of the ball trying to get up. He didn’t have possession for more than a second.

THAT WAS NOT AN INTERCEPTION.

Furthermore, it was 3rd fucking down. Where Levis recovered was short of the line to gain.

WHY IN THE FUCK DID THEY CALL THAT A FIRST DOWN???

I think he caught it (got hands under). Then fumbled as standing up and they recovered. So even though not distance for first, change of possession would be a new set of downs for them regardless of spot.

It's possible that he just lost control of it, and was not trying to lateral it ...... but looked to me like it was a catch in the first place, and if that was the case, then him losing it or trying to lateral it would bare the same result. I thought that he caught it, started to get up to run with it, and then either lost it or tried to lateral it to a teammate.

The only explanation I can conceive is that Steichen was told that play wasn’t reviewable, although I cannot imagine why it wouldn’t have been.
