The transition tag is always an option in that scenario. Let another team do the negotiating and just match. That said, I doubt it's that serious and a fairly team friendly extension can likely be negotiated before free agency starts.

When do negotiations formally begin? Can we re-sign our guys now, or do we have to wait until some date later? I forget the rules on this.
