I’m guessing Pittman was ready to move on. He didn’t wanna be second fiddle to Pierce.

Hard for me to believe, unless you're referencing $. Looking at how he run blocks - he does not seem like he's got that much Diva in him.

If they asked him to take less money, then it makes sense but I am not into the cap enough to know whether or not Dam's side of that argument or Omaha's is correct.

Teams find money for players they want. Rams found a way to pay Darnold 20 million, we could easily have found a way to pay Pittman.

In a way, both are correct.

If Pittman were still on the Colts roster, the Colts would be over the cap right now.

But if the Colts really wanted to keep him, they could have restructured one or more contracts and pushed current cap money originally earmarked for this season into the future.

Of course, some teams get into cap trouble by repeatedly restructuring and pushing money into the future. The New Orleans Saints provided a good example of what not to do.

Probably, in the short term, you’re right. But what about 2027? The only way to afford his hit would have been giving him an extension that lowered his 2026 number south of $10 Million. The problem is that that number would have bloomed north of $20 Million, next year. That might have been a pill you could swallow if not for one niggling detail. You’re also on the hook for a $35 Million cap hit for Alec Pierce.

Money is what I’m referencing. Paying Pierce more than Pittman wasn’t going to work, especially since Pittman will probably catch more balls than Pierce.

Pierce got paid for what he does well, which is deep speed and contested catches.

It’s easier to replace Pitt with a guy like Allen than it is to replace Pierce.

Kray. If you can’t afford him (Pittman) in a year you can always trade him then.

They also announced the depth chart today. Not many surprises for me. We will definitely get run on, as we always have, When Buck and Grove aren't on the field.
