Default 2020 Draft Day 3 Discussion Thread

The Colts filled two offensive play maker spots yesterday and drafted some much needed safety depth to play either as their third safety or challenge Willis for SS once he is recovered from his knee injury; perhaps by October.

Colts front office obviously loves the Blackmon pick; let's just say that I think value was elsewhere (cough....TE....cough) and leave it at that.

The Colts pick 16th in round 4 and 3rd in round 5, there are some interesting guys still left on the board:

-- ALL the QBs are still hanging around after the top five went in rounds one and two. Fromm, Easton, Morgan, Gordon. They might start becoming pretty good value in the 4th and 5th rounds even if you don't think they could become starters in the league.

-- Lots of TEs still available like Harrison Bryant, Albert Okwuegbunam, Hunter Bryant and Brycen Hopkins. Might still be able to grab one of those guys in the 4th or 5th.

-- OG John Simpson out of Clemson is still on the board and I have zero idea why. He seems like a plug and play starter.

-- A couple of OTs still on the board like Prince Tega Wanogho, Saahdiq Charles, and Ben Bartch.

-- Some DEs also on the board like James Lynch, Jason Strowbridge, Trevis Gipson and Alton Robinson.

-- Heck, Gabriel Davis, Isaiah Hodgins and Antonio Gandy-Golden are still on the board at WR.

Lots of talent that can help us from day one to be had in the 4th and 5th rounds. Who do you like?

I would agree.....however.....

I just listened to Ballard's post day 2 press conference on Colts.com and the last question was about O-line depth. Ballard specifically mentioned Eldenkamp as interior depth and Clark as OT depth and was not concerned in the least about adding to it. Said that if there were guys there, sure but if not, then there was a lot of time before TC to add veteran free agents.

Seems to me that Ballard is not really that interested in adding O-line depth in the draft. It might have been a smoke screen but we will see.

Next year's draft must be when they address finding a replacement for Costanzo. Clark certainly is not the answer and left tackles usually are high draft choices.

I don't see why they need TE at all. OL, DE, CB need to be addressed

Perhaps because we only have two on the roster with NFL play experience and that the Colts offense likes to be able to switch from 3 WR to 2 TE to force defenses into either changing personnel or staying in the wrong personnel group.

This year, my guess is that we will be adding quite a bit of split RB formations as well making the offense even more unpredictable now that we have a QB that can run that sort of thing.

Brissett will be traded by deadline unless rivers gets an injury.

Rivers is starter for two years. By then we will know if eason has enough and he will become starter or we look for another guy.

This probably depends on how the start of the season goes and how Eason progresses. If we're off to a good start and looking like a playoff team and Eason isn't ready to fill in yet, then we could keep Brissett and let him walk after the year.

Also a good possibility.

I was thinking ballard would like to get a pick for him rather than just let him leave.
