The Browns had a 3-point lead in the 3rd quarter of last night's game after their defense had just made a big stop. Their offense was driving near midfield, and was about to try to convert a 3rd-and-9 when Watson inexplicably and flagrantly grabbed and held onto the facemask of a Steelers defender after he had driven him out of bounds. A very makeable 3rd-and-9 turned into a nearly impossible 3rd-and-24. Not surprisingly, the Browns did not pick up the 1st down, and had to punt the ball.
Because of the "cause-and-effect" process, we'll never know for sure if that sequence of events may have cost the Browns a TD or a FG ...... but that absurd action on Watson's part may have wound up being the difference in the game.
