Anthony Richardson, Ryan Kelly are out against the Ravens

Now its official

Quote:

INDIANAPOLIS -- Anthony Richardson will miss Sunday's road game against the Ravens.

The Colts rookie quarterback was not able to clear the NFL's concussion protocol this week, meaning he is out for Sunday. Center Ryan Kelly also did not practice, so he is also out on Sunday.

Neither player was able to practice this week. The protocol requires players to have one limited practice and one contact practice and then be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to play.

FOR SUBSCRIBERS: Inside Anthony Richardson's brain injury and the toughest decision for a rookie to make

Gardner Minshew will make his first start. He finished 19 of 23 for 171 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions when he filled in against the Texans after Richardson self-reported brain injury symptoms. Minshew is 8-16 as a starter in his five-year career.

Wesley French will make his first career start at center. He stepped in for the second half on Sunday after Kelly self-reported his brain injury symptoms.

Cornerback Kenny Moore II (knee) and left guard Quenton Nelson (toe) are both questionable. The two Pro Bowlers were back at Friday's practice in limited fashion after missing Thursday.

Cornerback Dallis Flowers suffered an ankle injury Friday, moving his status to questionable. This could lead to the pro debut for second-round Kansas State rookie cornerback JuJu Brents, who was a healthy scratch the first two weeks after missing most of the offseason with wrist and hamstring injuries.

The Ravens have a long list of missing starters for Sunday. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., left tackle Ronnie Stanley, cornerback Marlon Humphrey, center Tyler Linderbaum, edge rusher Odafe Oweh and safety Marcus Williams will all miss the game with various injuries.
