Default The 2018 Colts ...... Reminiscent of the 2012 Colts

o

Both the 2018 Colts and 2012 Colts were coming off of disastrous seasons, without their injured starting quarterbacks (Peyton Manning in 2011, and Andrew Luck in 2017.).

Both teams were led by Andrew Luck on offense (a rookie Luck in 2012, a veteran Luck in 2018.)

Both teams were revived by a solid new head coach (Bruce Arians in 2012, Frank Reich in 2018) after two very bad ones previously (Jim Caldwell and Chuck Pagano, respectively) ........ unfortunately for the Colts, Arians was only an interim coach and he departed for Phoenix at the end of the season.

Both are/were (largely) young teams who made the playoffs with double-digit wins in the regular season, with presumably a continued bright future ahead of them (the 2012 team did had several long-time veterans in Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Reggie Wayne, and Cory Redding.)

Both teams were beaten handily in a road playoff game to bring their dream season to an end (the 2012 team lost to the Ravens in Baltimore, the 2018 team lost to the Chiefs in Kansas City.)

Unlike the 2012 team, this 2018 team has one of the best offensive lines in the league ........ and for the most part, the 2018 team has had a surprisingly adequate/serviceable defense.

Here's to the future of our beloved Colts, and may the 2018 season be a portent of things to come in 2019 and beyond.
