Keep in mind that it's not a simple as a non-tax state vs. a taxed state. Even when their home team is in a tax-free state, a pro athlete will still have to pay taxes in all of the other states where they earn their living. This means that a player will pay taxes, at a minimum, in any state where they play a game. An athlete's taxes are enormously more complicated than most.
