Safety Johnathan Cyprien working out for Colts
The Indianapolis Colts are taking a gander at the veteran safety market.
The Colts are working out free-agent safety Johnathan Cyprien today, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the decision.
ESPN first reported the news.
The Colts could be sniffing around the safety market as starter Clayton Geathers sits out OTAs after undergoing a knee cleanup procedure this offseason.
Indy is plenty familiar with Cyprien's work after the box safety spent his first four seasons as a starter in Jacksonville and played 2017 with the Tennessee Titans. Cyprien missed the entire 2018 campaign due to an ACL tear last training camp. The Titans released him this offseason. The 28-year-old is reportedly healthy.
With 70 starts under his belt in the AFC South, Cyprien can bring veteran insurance with starter upside as a box safety to a squad like the Colts, who have dealt with depth issues in the past.
