I am really okay with this. Let the national talking heads keep making fools of themselves. Hopefully, it lights a fire under our players to overachieve.
However, this type of media will continue to turn flyover country NFL fans away from the sport. Folks love to watch sports because of the competitive nature of the game. While there are always quibbles (was that a hold? Did he get his toe in AND have possession? Was his arm moving forward when the ball was stripped?), by and large sports have a very empirical nature to them that allows for the bias to be left at the door and the contest between athletes on a level playing field to be highlighted.
The "political" nature that has crept into sports reporting is only going to turn more and more folks away from sports as they launch into the "WWF realm" of entertainment. Sports broadcasters whom construct all of their analysis with an agenda are just as bad as the political reporters who only ever report one side of an issue. Both turn folks away from their reporting.
Anyway, the duo of Manning/Harrison is top 3 at worst and Freeney/Mathis is also at the top of the list somewhere. Heck, Manning/Wayne outperformed many of the duos on that list.
Cheers,
