Tobin was Indy's first real GM. Probably the smartest move Robert Irsay ever made. RIP Bill Tobin.
Apologies to Ernie Accorsi, who was a real GM that wasn't allowed to run the team due to Irsay's interference.
In the end Tobin's stubborness was his undoing. His refusal to keep players like Ashley Ambrose, Quentin Coryatt, Tony Siragusa, Will Wolford and Jason Mathews and replace them with guys he drafted with the Bears was a disaster. Most notably Troy "the swinging gate" Auzenne.
Then he compounded those mistakes by in '97 by drafting Tarik Glenn in rd 1 and Adam Meadows in rd 2. Those were great foundational picks! But because Glenn held out into training camp, Tobin punished him by starting Glenn at RG and Meadows at LT. This was a huge miscalculation.
