Buried in a Q & A with Frank Reich over at Colts.com (located
here) is a video embedded about halfway down of the "best" Matt Ryan throws from 2021.
A couple of observations from the video:
A. He loves to "float" long passes to his taller receivers and let them go up for them.
B. He also "threw" some long passes which got to their destination in a hurry. His arm strength looks good.
C. His offensive line was, well, offensive. He saved a lot of plays by climbing the pocket and his pocket movement looked pretty good.
D. All that said, a fair percentage of his "best" plays in 2021 ended up being more errors by the defense he was playing. He appears to do a great job of finding the receiver that the defense does not focus on and that ends up being his target. It looks good but only because the defense messed up.
If, and it is a big if with two new starters, if our offensive line can play well and our JT fueled running attack can go like last year, then this year's offense is going to be fun to watch because our "point guard" QB is going to be at his best.
