On top of that there weren't any guarantees that Peyton would be able to play again post neck surgery. Maybe one day we'll get the whole story, but there was a lot of talk at the time that he could only throw the ball ~10 yards when we released him. If that's true then releasing Peyton and drafting Luck was the safer option.
