I've always agreed with this. By nature of a tournament, the best team doesn't necessarily always hoist the trophy. It's great for drama and entertainment. But it's extra satisfying when you look back say your team would've beaten anyone in its path.
I feel that way about '06 and I don't even think that was the best Colts team. But...
-suspect run-D held held Larry Johnson to like 30yds after two of the greatest back-to-back rushing seasons ever.
-beat a loaded Ravens who had a defense that I've read journalists argue was as good or better than 2000's.
-took down the Pats, obviously.
Not really any what-ifs with that team like with, say, the '05 Steelers or something. Win the Super Bowl, obviously. But some cherries on top are nice.
