If it’s a ligament
I know that it’s been reported that Wentz will be seeing Dr Anderson for an opinion on his foot; but it’s possible that the consultation was done by phone after Anderson looked at the Mri…Especially if the injury wasn’t major.
First of all, there are over 30 ligaments in the foot, and it’s impossible to know which one might be involved.
That having been said, there are 3 grades of tears, which are more commonly known as sprains.
Grade 1 strains involve small tears in the ligament. It’s not considered a significant injury and treatment usually consists of rest. They usually resolve themselves within a few weeks without the need for surgery
Grade 2 strains are more extensive and require a more intensive course of treatment. The foot is usually put in a cast or splint, and take up to 8 weeks to heal.
Grade 3 is a complete tear. Pain at the time of injury is severe, and surgery is just about the only option.
