Carlie Irsay-Gordon
I just wanted to give a shout out to this woman. I like her style so much better than her dads (I know most loved Jim here. I think he was a ton better than his dad-who isn't-and loved the game deeply but I wasn't enthralled with him as an owner). Jim seemed to be a fanboy, Carlie seems like a hard ass. Jim was loud and a cheerleader big time. Carlie is quiet and businesslike on the sidelines. I love that she listens to what is being said (headphones) and takes notes. Accountability starts from the top, and this woman at least has the look of a very serious person. I think we may have a huge winner here (and all props to Jim for setting her up for this, each generation seems to be getting better at owning this team) and if that is true is more important going forward than any player or coach we have. Keep those sunglasses handy Sherck

Time will tell but I really think Ballard could benefit from having an owner who is deeply committed to questioning his every move.
Now, I think Ballard is a good / great GM. His cap management is excellent, his drafting is well above average and his evaluation of talent in most positions is good. I can question his ability to pick DEs as we have invested and invested and don't have much to show for it but there are a bunch of folks drafted deeper in the draft that are still on this roster for years. However, I think everyone needs to be challenged in their job to excel and I think that CIG will do that will Ballard and also HC. I hope, hope, hope that this group can learn to sharpen each other and really become a winning combo. And yes, I hope to be able to triple up forever when it comes to the Colts! :) |
Second this, Love how she is obviously engaged, but not ranting or raving. She has been around the team her entire life, representing the team at owner's meetings for the last 20+ years.
Her mien on the sideline is intriguing to me. It's as obvious she is in charge as it is obvious that she gives zero fscks what anyone else thinks about that. |
Carlie's been great as far as I'm concerned.

o
People from Maryland who were angry about the Colts leaving Baltimore would often call the Colts "The Indianapolis Irsays", in a derisive manner ...... as far as I'm concerned, that intended insult has evolved into a compliment. o |
too early to tell how the big CIG will be as the big boss lady but I am intrigued. obviously I will miss the legend Jim Irsay but it was going to end eventually. the dude seemed like the kind of billionaire that other billionaires should strive to be.

I just sense something different about this team, and I sense that it has something to do with the ownership change.
I don't what she has said to Ballard, Steichen and the rest of this team, but it must have struck a nerve. There are so many guys that have raised their level of play and seem more locked in on the details. Even Steichen admitting his goof in play calling at the end of the week two game was a breath of fresh air. It wouldn't surprise me If Carlie told him to own it and speak about it. |
