quick thoughts on the game

1) I don't think Steichen was very good today. Running goodson early and getting downs involved early and often should have been the move. get AR comfortable and get the ball in the hands of guys that can make plays.

2) AR was bad. Looks like a young backup at this point. I don't think steichen helped him out early but still. just bad. what was he, 2 of 15 at some point or some shit? not seeing the blitz great, inaccurate, not throwing the ball away, still taking hits he didn't need to is just not good football. he has to be better. we cant have our offense stall out so much. we will get destroyed going forward.

3) goodson has some juice. I like him as a 3rd rb. sermon wasn't terrible today but he shouldn't be the 2

4) Downs should be a huge part of the game plan every week. wtf are they doing today. might have to check the all 22 but wtf dude? he is arguably the best wr and shouldn't be too hard to scheme some plays up from the slot

5) stop the fucking penalties, smith. for fucks sakes man

6) Stuard is much better than speed. he plays like an nfl lber should. all out every play. and he gets guys on the ground.

7) taven Bryan is so fucking bad. just run at him every play. he sucks and shouldn't be on the team

8) the dline as a whole is fucking bad. nobody but grover and buck just consistently win the play. obviously latu needs time but paye and dayo and the other guys are just dudes. which sucks considering the investment made here.

9) every te just eats on the colts. which is the opposite of what the colts te's do with AR. they aren't a factor.

10) fans wanting flacco in are morons. we have to see what AR is. we aren't winning a super bowl with flacco. this team is too bad. seeing what we have in AR is the only goal this year.

You’re point number 10 is absolutely right but goddamn is he hard to watch at times. Good grief.

The fumble in the first quarter was just mind numbingly bad.

It’s really hard to watch him because it seems like the insanely good plays are always balanced by the insanely bad ones.

I was an AR skeptic from the boot. He surprised me very early with some aspects, like his poise. The injury prevalence and accuracy consistency have yet to be dispelled.

I've said it several times here, because I have to make a point to remind myself... he's so young. In general, and especially in terms of football experience. He needs play time and when he loses time due to injury, he's probably more rusty than the typical QB because his foundation is so limited in the first place.

They mentioned during the broadcast that Flacco said something pretty insightful when talking about AR picking his brain... He said AR doesn't even know which questions to ask yet.

Whether he's the man or not... it's going to be a process before we find out.

It is and we need to give him 3 years probably. I am pretty skeptical right now, but it is what it is.

I was not impressed with Steichen's plan early. He didn't seem to be doing much of anything to get AR going, the calls seemed very disjointed.

Further, they had a plan to blitz the shit out of him and get him sped up, and it worked. Why the FUCK there was no screens (someone called it out in the game thread) to punish them for everything being upfield, ears back, I have no idea.

That said, it seemed like when we just let him fucking go, in that :25 offense to end the half, it started to fire a bit.

To me, he seems so much better in a hurried, play it loose setting.

I see things that are very promising and I feel like he can be the guy so I am optimistic.

I found that unsettling.

I understand what we have in AR but I can't remember ever hearing an NFL quarterback described like that.

AR takes Downs out of the game plan. At this point there is no way they are connecting on those timing routes and the ball so often needing to be in the air before Downs comes open on his break. Downs is also great at finding and sitting in the holes in a zone. AR needs to read the same thing and then deliver the ball accurately before a defender takes up the space. Again not in the skillset at this point. It's going to be a journey and Downs productivity is going the suffer during the learning curve.

I think it depends how you interpret. Personally, I thought he was just commenting on his youth. How early in the process he is.

Not that he's not able to wrap his head around things.

The jury is still out on AR. Some QBs take time to make the adjustment. I recall you saying Sam Darnold would never succeed, but he's still young and seems to be finding himself now.
