POLL- Lose to Jags, should Frank be fired?

Seems as though there has been quite a bit of souring on Frank after we started the season with yet another less than inspired mistake riddled mess of a game. Curious to see what the Freaks think about his job prospects if we lose to the Jags again this week.

When a team makes the kind of mistakes that were made by this team in the opener, they just weren't ready for the season. That is the job of the coaching staff. That being said, I can't see a replacement that could come in after the season has begun and turn everything around. A new game plan, a new philosophy at this late time won't succeed. I do believe Reich should feel he's on a very, very short leash and he should be pulling out all stops to make this work.

I realize the question is, do we think he should be fired if we lose to the Jags, not do we think the Colts will fire him...but without a strong accomplished and experienced coach on the staff to take over, I don't believe the Colts will fire him this early, and I would have to agree with them.

But if Frank doesn't make the playoffs this season, I believe he will be and should be fired. He could be fired mid season if the team has piled up 4 or 5 losses and are not competitive with the top teams. I have to be honest, the way this team looked against Houston, I unfortunately think this will be Frank's last season here....hope I am wrong!

Who would you replace him with?

Many times, an in-season firing means that you promote from the existing coaching staff and assign an interim title.

With the departures of Sirianni and some coaches and then Eberflus and some coaches, there isn't many experienced options left.

I guess you would be looking at Gus Bradley? He has had prior head coaching experience - 14 Wins, 48 Losses.

John Fox is also a consultant / senior defensive assistant - just seems like he is dipping his toes back into the coaching ranks and not sure he would want the lead job.

No. That would be a really dumb move.

Here's the Week 1 overreaction thread. If they fired Reich, Gus Bradley would be named interim HC. Ask the Jags fans how good that outlook would be. This is definitely something that would be positive for the Colts to change, but there will still be 15 games after this week's game, that's way too early to fire a HC who wasn't considered in any jeopardy of being fired prior to last week.

In season firings never end well for the team very often. We have the talent to win, maybe not the super-bowl at this point, but key pieces are in place. If we can survive the first 5 games with a 2-2-1 record and hit one of our notorious mid season hot streaks under Reich who knows.

I love his aggressiveness, but it seems he doesn't understand situational football sometimes, which is mind boggling being a former QB. I say if we miss the playoffs shit can him as soon as the season ends and get the new coach in sooner than later.

Jim would probably never fire a head coach during the season, and I generally agree with him. However, if the Colts don't make the playoffs , conversations/plans should be made. So that's what I voted for.

If we don't make the playoffs this year then Reich will be gone, possibly alongside Ballard. The only way i can see us not making the playoffs is if Ryan ends up with a season ending injury early in the year.

I dont see an in season HC firing unless things are really bad in the later part of the season, but even still I would think they would do it right after the season.

I could see irsay letting reich go but I think he sticks with ballard. Although we on this board dont always agree with ballard, he is widely regarded as one of the better GMs and I dont think that irsay wants to go through another grigson type.
