5 NFL teams that will surprise in 2018 #1... The Colts

Overly optimistic IMHO but we can all hope

1. Indianapolis Colts
It’s not hard to project how the Colts could improve from last year’s 4-12 record. All Indianapolis needs is a healthy Andrew Luck to rocket up the standings.

Early indications about Luck’s recovery from shoulder surgery have been encouraging. It’s worth noting he still hasn’t thrown a ball yet, but his presence around the team has the Colts optimistic. Team officials insist he will be ready to go for Week One.

This is a team that lost 6 games by 7 points or fewer and another 3 games by greater than 7 points after they led at halftime. Almost all of that can be tied to poor second half QB play. While I respect the effort Brissett made last year, he clearly displayed that, at least for now, he's a backup QB. Having a healthy Luck in those situations will likely lead to a lot more wins, especially given his career 26-11 (including playoffs) mark in games decided by 7 points or fewer.

Don't forget poor coaching. Zero game planning + zero halftime adjustments = not many wins.

He will never admit that.

The 2nd half play calling was absurdly predictable and conservative. I posted a thread earlier this offseason with the metrics—it was staggeringly incompetent.

When is Luck supposed to throw a football?

Even if Luck does not play a game this year the Colts will be better. Brissett having a full offseason with the team and the other additions. Hell just Clappy being gone has to gain a few wins.

Pagano being gone is easily good for 3 wins. Probably more. We are moving on from the worst coach in the history of the nfl. That is huge

That's odd, I went here and sorted by worst winning percentage, couldn't find Pagano in the top 100. I just don't understand how he could be the worst coach in NFL history if he doesn't even own one of the 100 worst winning percentages in NFL history (among 177 qualifiers in NFL history).

Thats because those other coaches didn't have an Andrew Luck to bail them out of bad coaching. As soon as Pagano lost Luck, his winning percentage went down the toilet too.
