Colts - Jets trade - 1 year later
Didn't know if everyone saw this article on espn.com - written from the Jets perspective, of course.
It says the Jets initiated the talks with the Colts at last year's Senior Bowl. After Kirk Cousins spurned the Jets FA contract offer, the Colts - Jets talks accelerated and the trade was completed within a week. Seems like they are happy with Darnold (at least for now). Although, it's not like they would say they are disappointed with the trade outcome only 365 days later. http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/je...s-a-year-later |
I think it was a win win deal. We got one of the two guys we initially targeted and some extra picks.
The Jets got a franchise QB for three 2nd round picks. Very reasonable for a franchise QB who could play for 10-15 years. |
I would've liked to squeeze them for more but it was a good deal for us. And unfortunately the guy running the Jets right now isn't a complete idiot like Dan Snyder is. Or even like Woody Johnson is.

I don't think we will fully understand the dividends until after the 2nd round this year.
