What an opportunist! I did not know this could be done, but I guess it's something that can be done this year only due to COVID:

New Packers' OT Jared Veldheer now will become the first player in NFL history to play for two teams in the same postseason. COVID practice-squad rules made it possible. Only this season....
He seems hellbent on getting a ring this year, and it looks like he's got a good agent who's identifying loopholes. If the Pack loses, I guess he'll be moving on to KC next.

Veldheer seemed to hold up ok, wonder if he's interested in a normal full season contract? Even if Castonzo returns, it would be nice to have him as a backup.

He is tough, strong and fearless. He loses 15 lbs and becomes quicker, he will eat light DEs and LB for lunch. He not a block of granite. He is athletic, and ihe can be a dominant OT. He’s a ball player. If you asked him to play as a nose tackle he would bust his ass so he would blow up the first center he faced.

I dont understand why people here cant believe he could play OT. Hes strong, smart quick feet and is an asshole as he drives people into the ground

Nelson would need to completely remake himself to play LT. I'm not saying he couldn't do it, he even did an adequate job filling in when Castanzo went down, but he would need to become much more agile and much less of a mauler to make it work. It seems easier to draft a LT to put next to him and keep him as the best OG in the NFL than to experiment with him and potentially weaken the whole left side of the OL.

Jah, until they meet the Bills.

I don't think it is we don't believe he can do it, but there is the fact he is an elite generational talent at guard and will probably not be that at tackle. I would hate to turn an exceptional G into a good T.

Veldheer was a mauler! Fhack yeah, Chris! Dude pulled it off.!

Discflinger 01-12-2021 12:02 AM

LTs? Whatever?

Discflinger 01-12-2021 12:04 AM

We were as fortunate as they come and we could have done it all!

A couple of points to start the offseason:

Reich has said they will try Nelson at LT extensively to see if he will work there.

Reich has also said he wants Philip Rivers back for the 2021 season.

The Colts seem to have about 60 million in cap space. With the cap reduction of 11% and the Grover Stewert signing, it is smaller than was reported earlier in the year.

If we only have $60, other teams will likely start the off-season over their cap I wonder what that will do to contracts for free agents, as well as rosters being trimmed of quality guys who cannot be paid what their contract says. Could get interesting.

Edit: This may lead to Rivers retiring.

A lot of teams are way over the cap. Saints, Steelers to name a few. All the teams were expecting the cap to keep rising like it does every year. A lot of players will be restructuring or hitting the market.
