I haven't seen much on this, but LOS is getting new turf before the start of the season.

its going to be some form of field turf. The local soccer team has hesitated to play at LOS , they prefer grass. But thy finally gave in and are playing at the Oil Can. The field turf is better than the old turf and better in bad weather if installed with a heat system

The current surface was installed in 2008:

They have a line that touts "true ball roll" (Vertrex and Vertrex Prime), a non-sports line (Revolutio 360, XM7, Vintage) and then some that are designed for field hockey (Hockey Gold, Hockey Speed, Hockey Multi). The Classic HD series was rated for a decade of use which is where we are at with it. My guess is that this was a known, planned upgrade to replace the "end of life" original Classic HD product. It is interesting that there are almost no news articles about this. Walk Worthy, |

Hope they don’t end up playing there |
Yeah... it's been pretty slow around here.

I wonder how the new turf will affect injuries. Does it help prevent injuries at all? |

Left Offensive Tackle. Ball on probably our 40. QB takes the snap, passes it to the left sideline for an INT (we sucked, won 1 game that season). I take off running to the sideline to try and get the guy without my head on a swivel and "bam" get completely decleated from the right side by someone from the opposing team. The video showed me landing heels over head on my helmet and shoulderpads from the hit. I had bruises for a month down my right side from hitting the deck. Shoulder, arm, ribs, hip, leg. Yeah, that surface was hard. Walk Worthy, |
I never played in the Hoosier Dome, but I took a tour their shortly after it opened back when I was 11 or 12.
I was shocked at the playing surface. It was like concrete with a one inch or so thin pad of felt grass on top of it. I couldn't imagine diving, falling, tackling, kneeling or even running on that for a quarter, let alone a whole game. Glad the new stuff is so much better. Now anyone have some comments on Quenton Nelson's jockstrap technology? The offseason is SO DAMN LONG in this league. Can't wait for even preseason in three weeks. |
